Then also make sure archers stay routed with fire balls and manticore bullying, the leg wiz causes archer units to feel terrifying terror, I mean I was sold immediately when I found out it was a balefield wizard riding a huge wyvern like the chaos one. Just needs to be shielded from missle, artillery and extended combat with specialized melee units, but it will eat up archers in melee combat and his wyvern mount would be spitting out the helms. The leg wiz turned the tide because he recovers magic quick too. That's right 3 stacks and it was a pyrrhic victory but a victory at the least. He can hover over your lord and provide melee support or casts spells throught the front lines to mainly support infantry units holding back the chaos fxxxxxx op horde. But he can cast plenty of the spells from far so it's why I believe it's a must in your lord's army. Plus you need him hurling fire balls like almost from artillery distance, it can support if you get your manticore goons on archers without putting it in risk of missile fire because, tan tan tannnn, he can't take a whole lot of it. If any dragons or the leg wiz gets locked into an overwhelming melee, the manticores get sacrificed to retreat the leg wiz and his dragons. The manticores are cannon fodder cheap and easily available. If massive like what happened to me, my lord was attacked by 3 stacks of chaos elites. Then land the wizard with 2 wyverns and 2 manticores to hold. It can cast soells that buff up himself or allies and others like rust wich will affect a unit directly vs another which I can't recall than can reduce armor and melee in an area on the ground which is great to temporarily reinforce a thinning hole in your front, like the center for example can thin out, while you re-rout reinforcements. It's a great spell for nerfing those elite chaos tanking abominations. The wizard comes with a very versatile repertoire of soells that can turn the tide of the battle, from fire balls, to opening an insane tear that opens a void sucking in infantry in like Tony Montana xxxxxxx the xxxx. It can be in your lord's army, it can be paired with other flying units like wyverns and manticores. The legendary wizard to me is the better. Well, milk for the Khorne Flakes, I guess. So all in all, Dog wins it for me and it isn't even as close as I would have liked. Experience for all troops, meanwhile, is at least decently potent and universally useful. Just keep sacking a settlement or keep farming for rebellions. Wound recovery is only useful if your characters spend time being wounded. Quite amusingly, I also think level 2 for Dog is better than the others. The choice is between a chaos sorcerer (meh), random bursts of chaos corruption (okay'ish, but not that awesome), a non-configurable lord (meh), or probably the meanest piece of artillery in the game. The key, I think, is to look at the level 3 reward. Serpent: 1) 10% upkeep reduction, 2) Lord recruit rank +5, 3) Unique chaos sorcererĬrow: 1) Replenishment +20%, 2) Wound recovery -4, 3) Chaos plagueĮagle: 1) Research +20%, 2) Winds of Magic +20, 3) Unique lord that isn't particularly goodĭog: 1) 10% weapon strength for melee infantry, 2) +100 Exp per turn, 3) Unique RoR hellcannon The way I see it, Dog is definitely the way to go.
